Book Talk Question # 5

Word Choice


Find a brilliant example of word choice in this week’s text!  Write the entire sentence and explain why you chose it.

  1. He shook his head with a wistful sadness.
    I chose the word wistful because instead of saying longing, the author used a three scoop word. The sentance also seems very powerful.

  2. In the spirit of mock inquistion, we called the subject the "victim". I like the word inquistion because it is a 3-scoop-word. Also I like it because it sounds more interesting then saying investigating.

  3. Bewilderment
    Someone had splatered her face with a thrown ripe tomato, and as the clock and the Glendale fans poured onto the court, Stargirl just stood there, her great eyes staring up at us in utter bewilderment through pulpy red gore. I choose this word because the author chose a three scoop word not a bopring word.
